RX-7
Have any of you driven the 93+ RX-7 by mazda?
I'm curious how much performance it offers/ lacks compared to the S2000. Is the steering as precise? Is the power delivery from the twin turbo engine linear? Handling?
I know reliability isn't there but it does look like a nice alternative for alot less $$$..
Just thought I'd ask and see what comes up. Any spec charts you could post would help... Dynos too
THanks

Theyre very capable cars. The TT version can be made into a supercar beater much like the Supra TT. Handle great and are a bat out of hell off the line. The greatest downside to the car is its engine and the prespool system for the turbos. That engine is very sensitive to the slightest abnormality and tend to detonate. Thats why you see 80% of them for sale with "rebuilt engine" and they have like 25k - 50k miles on them. I know a guy who had one and he went thru 3 engines. If you want a Sunday driver it wouldnt be a bad thought, but for a daily or routine driver I would opt for something else.
Stock the RX-7 does 0-60 in 5.0sec. The S2000 is more often tested around 5.4-5.5sec
I'd rather get a 02 Z06 for around $33K
Or a used NSX those things can take miles. There are many many NSXs with well over 100K miles with no engine work done. Some with over 165K miles.

How does the interior room compare to the S2000. I barely fit in the S.

as for performance there is no comparison, the 7 just kills us in the straights. As for the twisties, we may have a little advantage. And for reliability, we have complete advantage. A friend of mine has a FD and that thing is an absolute garage queen. But if you are a decent mechanic and know how to work on rotaries, its not a bad car. I would love to have one as a weekend toy with my s. here are some pics for comparisons. enjoy

I used to own a '93 and absolutley loved it. But like everyone said, it was a major, major pain in the ass. Its like dating a model....she breaks a nail, she'll cry. I had to sell it because I could no longer afford the upkeap at the time.
