S2000 + corolla OR BMW E39 M5?
ok guys, don't laugh.. but this is the situation I'm in... i can either keep 03 S2000 and 01 toyota corolla (10k miles, highest model w/ all options, friend is selling for CHEAP), or sell the S2000, skip the corolla, and get a used low mileage E39 M5. (there's a 00 M5 for sale w/ 16k miles local for $42k)
M5 is pimp, but i love s2000 and i'm sure i'll miss the handling & nimbleness of the S. corolla is ghetto but it's fun to have a beater !!
so which do u guys prefer??

2 cars are better than 1.
As a busy person, you may not have time to bring your car in for service if something goes wrong. e.g. flat tire or drained battery. You can always take the other car if one car goes out of commision.
also, if you need to go some place ghetto, the Corolla is worry free.

If you're picking up an M5, do yourself a favor and pick up an '01+ model. They have the updated headlights with the "halos," unlike the '00 MY.
Make sure you can afford the upkeep/maintenance and *especially* gas for the M5, then I'd go for the BMW.
If not, the corolla + s2k is still a wise choice, especially with the soaring gas prices. The "having a beater" aspect of it doesn't appeal to me that much because if I had an s2k, I'd drive it everyday anyway. Life is short, enjoy your car(s) to the fullest unless you work/go to school in a really, really bad neighborhood.
EDIT: Forgot to add this in. My buddy's boss picked up an '03 M5 recently. He tells me that everybody's been making fun of him (the boss) because the BMW is constantly in the shop. Just something to think about. He did, however, say that his boss gave him the ride of his life in the M5 though.

S2000 and the Corolla. No doubt.
E39 M5 is a great car, but it's big and doesn't have the "fun to drive" factor that the S2000 has.

Not sure the Corolla is the car I'd pick. But def S2000 + beater is the way I'd go. I love the S2000 but a lot of times I drive my beater instead.
I would not get an economy car if it has a AT no matter how cheap it is. It sounds like you're saying the Corolla has all the options as in also a automatic tranny
I'd really rather have a stripper accord than a loaded corolla. Full option economy cars are a bit of an odd duck. I'd rather have less fluff in a more substantial car.
I think a manual tranny is a must with a weak 4-banger. I drove an Escort that was a POS but it was still fun to fling around with a MT and wring out the last ounce of power from it's engine.
Also a M5 could be hellacious to maintain and early cars can have oil consumption issues.
Over a M5 I'd look at a CTS-V. Brand new and has a lot more TQ and weighs (I think) a bit less.
But I'd still go with a S2000 + beater over a large powerful sedan.
BYW how cheap for the Corolla? Could you swing a new car like a tC for example?
