s2000 or is300
hi i have an 01 is300 with like 7000 miles on it but i want an s2000, i have bout 14,000 to pay on the IS300, should i trade it in now, or wait a year when i have it paid off to get an s2000. If i got an s2000 then my payments would be the same as now, probally, please help me, also is anything going to be new in the 2003 s2000's.
I was deciding between the S and the IS and the S won. My first choice would have been the IS300 MT but the Lexus dealer wasn't going to give me a good trade in, so going with the S was painless.
I would pay off your IS and get the S next year or get the Manual IS300, it has some go, if you're looking for better performance.

My friend just purchased a 2002 IS300. Too bad he got an auto. It is a nice car, but if you seriously don't have the need for a backseat, then go for the S! Also, IS300s aren't dragsters in any sense. A well driven civic si could take one. The manual tranny is a must in an IS.
This is obviously just my $.02 worth, but I would wait to get rid of the IS300. Don't get me wrong, I love my S2000 and would never try to discourage anyone from buying one, BUT the upcoming onslaught of new hardware seems too good not to at least check out. I'm referring to the Nissan 350Z, Infiniti G35 coupe, Mazda RX-8, Subaru Imprezza WRX STI, Mitsubishi Lanver EVO VII, 2nd generation BMW Z3, etc. All of these cars should be out within a year (or less), and I think any one of them could change your mind about the S2000 (or maybe not, depending on your own preferences). I got my S2000 in November, but if all of the above cars were available then, I'm really not sure I would have ended up with the S2000. So, what I'm saying is, you have a great ride for the moment, and if you wait and pay it off, your decision may be a lot easier in the near future. Good luck!
Yes but remember, its usually not a good idea to get the first year production run of any car. The first year is usually the "beta tester" year. Second/third years are usually the best.
