Thumbs up s2000 vs. 330ci

here's a question, i drive heavily on the freeway, and i was wondering which car would save more gas on the freeway. i've heard before that the s gives poor mpgs on the freeway and the vettes would give better mpgs on the freeway, welll what about the 330ci? would this car give me better mpg?

I don't think I've ever even reached 28mpg w/ an S2000...maybe our driving styles are a bit different?

On the freeway travelling at 65~30MPH, you can get around 28~30MPG in the 330ci. In a Z4 3.0 (pre '06), people constantly get 32~34MPG in that speed range.

I don't know what's wrong with your S2000s or even driving styles, but I consistently get ~30 mpg on long freeway trips, such as going out of state, with average speed of 70 mph. And it's not even hard achieving that, just cruise steady at that speed. Oh, with top up, btw.

What the heck does that mean? 30 mph on a freeway? Unless it's jammed and then you wouldn't achieve that kind of mileage. But I still don't know what 65~30mph means.

Btw, ~ is usually used to represent "approximately".

i've never gotten close to 30mpg. but i'm sure u CAN. i also prefer not to 'lug' the engine. i like to keep my revs 3.5-4k for the most part in any gear. the positive of a few mpg extra doesnt outweight the negatives imo.

Thats not lugging the engine, when i'm on the freeway (getting onto it, I always shift around 4)...my last tank got me 30-32ish mpg.....
