26-28 is normal for me on the highway. If I'm not in a hurry and go 70-75 with the cruise control on, I can see 28-30. Iv'e gotten over 30 mph once.

Around town I'm around 22-25 depending oh how much I hit VTEC. Generally, I have a pretty light foot and getter better fuel economy than my wife in the same vehicle. With any manual transmission car, fuel economy will depend more on the driver than anything else.

Track mileage is a steady 10mpg.

I think VTEC junkie has a good point, just because the 3 will give you a couple more miles to the tank doesnt mean you will spend less on the operation of the vechicle

I drive my S pretty much only in the city. While hardly driving @ high revs, I only get 20-22 mph. If I decide to go vtec a few times on the tank + city driving, I avg 18-19. I don't know how you guys do it.
Same here...City driving and redline 1-2 times a day I don't even get 18MPG.

But I didn't buy my S for fuel economy

You people getting 30MPG OFTEN, might as well swap for a Civic Hybrid.
Whoever said "often"? 30mpg is achievable on a steady long freeway trip at 70 mph. No one said 30 mpg is achievable with mixed city/hwy driving.

Some of these numbers sound too high. Isn't 32 mpg higher than what Honda even said we should get? I have NEVER gotten anywhere above 24/25 mpg on my AP2 or AP1. I honestly could care less about this factor though, because I have a sports car and not an economy car. Back to the OP- I bet the 330 gets better mileage.
Honda never said we'd get anything as far as gas mileage is concerned. The EPA did and the EPA's methods of simulating real world conditions to measure fuel econony suck and are flawed. I just did a 1,600 mile trip across the country with the S and averaged 29mpg doing 70+ mph most of the time. My wife was behind me the entire way with the MDX and got 25mpg (rated by the EPA at 23mpg highway). This was all calculated using our fuel receipts.

mpg reflect only one factor of cost in a vehicle. cost of maintenence, insurance, and depreication together with mpg will determine your overall cost per mile of operating a certain vehicle. in other words, just because car B gives better mpg than car A doesn't necessarily mean the overall cost of operation of car B will be less than car A.
BMW's are just as reliable as Honda's. Maintenece is also covered by warrenty. Their oil changes are something i would love to have. 15k miles per oil change of spirited driving ftw.

have one of each (actually the bimmer is a 330cic), and neither gets good mileage (am lucky to get low 20s in either car- usually in the teens)... but thats cause i love to play with the gears on both- and dont like to cruise very long. have to hit the gas every once in a while (when i can find places without cars).

get better mileage in my ody than i do in either the s2000 or the bimmer!

Really? I have had multiple friends with BMWs and pretty much all of them have had major problems as soon as the 60k hits the odo.

Major problems include:
injectors
transmission
new engine CPU

I am pretty sure I will never own one after helping them wrench on their cars

I'd have to agree, BMW's don't seem near as reliable based on co-workers' experiences w/ them. Regardless, the driving experience is great enough to overlook such shortcomings to a certain extent, esp. as long as it's under warranty and you get a loaner car.
