Default S2000 vs SC430

I hope this is on the right area...if not please move....anyway my friend is telling me his dad's lexus (that's right, lexus) SC430 is faster than my S2000...I have to admit driving it around it FELT a little faster for some reason...but I looked up its numbers and its a 6.4 second car...then he told me its faster from like 50-70 or 70-90...anyone shed some light on why it feels faster?? Isn't it really super heavy? more torque maybe??? but if it feels faster why isnt it faster? (I know this sounds realllly stupid) thanks

Feelings can be a little misleading. The pull that you feel is directly related to acceleration. There could be one part of the power band on the SC430 that pulls harder than the S2000. The S2000 has an extremely flat TQ curve so the pull that you feel is steady and across the entire power band. The pull on the S2000 may not be as hard as the SC430's peak, but it pulls hard longer over the power band giving better performance.

Make sense? I haven't looked up the SC430 or seen any dyno charts so I'm making some assumptions about the shape of the TQ curve on the SC430.

0-60 advantage s2000
quater mile advantage s2000
50-130 advantage SC430

I have tested it many times. My buddy have one. We race all the time. Plus my gf have a GS400. I drive her car sometimes. Very familar with the V8 motor. This comparison is strictly stock vs. stock. But if you talk about moded the s2 vs moded SC430. Especially with the blower or turbo. The SC don't stand a chance. Becuase there's not much parts for that car. But the old school SC300/SC400. There's a lot of after market parts for that car. For one, you can do a 2JZ/1JZ motor swap, twin turbo motor or you can go with the NA-T turbo kit. They are very fast.

My sister's Lexus IS300 FEELS faster than my S2000, but I know it isn't. I think in most cases the S2000 is faster than the SC430.

higher torque is the reason why the sc430 feels faster.

"torque makes you feel faster, hp makes you go faster"

On MTV cribs, Tony Hawk and that rapper Baby both drive those SC430's. According to Tony, in Cali everybody has to have a drop top....

On the freeway, I'm pretty sure the SC430 is a bit faster.

I've just ordered a new S2000 privately. My firm provides me with a Mercedes CLK 430 AMG which has a similar performance to the Lexus 430 Coupe i.e. around 285bhp and a similar amount of torque and a rev limit of 6,000rpm. One of the reasons for buying the S2000 is that I followed one on my way home about 2 weeks ago. The last stretch is a 1 1/2 mile climb by-passing the local town. Top speed at the mile point is c.120 mph. The S2000 was having to work hard but I wasn't able to pass him in the Merc. You clearly have to rev the a**e off the S2000, but if you do, it does the business!

Regards

R&T has the top speed of the SC430 as 156mph and the S2000 only 150mph
