One of the things I love about my S is that I can putter around town, very quietly, looking like any hair dresser, but can also wind it up in third when there is a dawdling car or truck to pass.

The S is sharper than any Mazda I've driven, & I tried most of them. It is really great in the twisty stuff, but less friendly on a lacy afternoon drive than your old MX5.

Start daydreaming the way you could in it, & the S will bite you, she expects your full attention. To put it simply, you couldn't give me an Audi, & I'd not be all that grateful if you gave me an MX 5, but despite it's faults, you'd have real trouble getting my S off me.

Comparisons to a Miata are a joke. Only being roadsters gives them anything in common. But if that's all you want a Miata is fine. Docile.

I can't imagine a S2000 as a daily driver other than in the Summer. These are claustrophobic with the roof up.

Honda tweaked the S2000 every year it was in production. The last of them, 2006 and later, gained stability control, traction control ("purists" can switch this off at will), and a flashable ECU which allows tuning the car for more -- much more -- mid-range torque and power and eliminates the need to keep the engine on high rpms all the time. Keep OEM size tires on it and it ain't gonna swap ends on you as easily as the earlier cars. Pre-2003 cars will snap oversteer on you if you don't know what you're doing. Hanging the tail out is fun if you're prepared for it. Otherwise you'll be picking cattails out of the undercarriage.

I'm sure someone would be willing.. Whereabout's are you?

I love my S. As stated the torque is very low (I'm used to a 340lb ft diesel) But I don't feel I need to go fast in this car... I do but don't feel the need. It's cornering is fantastic, and i's say the S is what a porsche boxter dreams of becoming one day.

Not easy to mod for more power... the only real options are new ecu/exhaust, lowering the vtec, and many manual parts changes. OR Forced induction, then you're talking silly power.

I love my 2003. No electronic gubbins to ruin the experience.

This is a perfect combination - a fun upscale sedan as a DD and the S2000 for fun. I have an turbo RDX SH-AWD as my daily. OP, if you are considering moving to the S2000 as a daily driver, I strongly recommend you get a good long test drive first, both top up and down. Great car - I love my S2000, but for me personally, an awful dd.

In the states here I had an S-line A3. But it came with the VR6 and was loads of fun and low end pulling power. Really is apples to oranges. I miss my Audi, but enjoy my S2000 as well. Would love to supercharge the S2000, and get that low end pull I miss.
