I mean seriously guys, VW is the number 2 selling auto company in the WORLD, I hardly think they need saving. They already set aside billions of dollars in the next quarter to deal with this issue. They will comply with hearing, just like Toyota did with unintended acceleration, they will take their punishment quietly, and business will resume as usual.

Chances are this little trick isn't limited to VAG anyway.

Saving? Lmao you guys are naive. BP did irreparable damage to the environment and GM literally killed people. Maybe some execs will get in criminal trouble ( that's what should happen), but the company will move on.

Best investing advice, buy POAHF, I just did.

I think you're right. The market usually overreacts to news - both good and bad. It's very tempting to pick up a few hundred shares. Could do very well over the coming weeks/months

Completely different situation.
GM had to recall 30 million cars globally for the ignition switch. They recovered just fine from that fiasco.

VW will be fine. The public forgets pretty quick and a lot of big financial players have stock in VW they don't want to see diminished in the long run. It could take a little while for them to get back where they were, but no way is VW going away.

I think it will be fine, but the damage will become more apparent when people see how much the software fix will hurt the diesel performance. if it's significant (5 mpg or so), then the settlement with customers will be substantial.

+1

If its just mileage they can fix it with a calculated cash payout to owners.

Torque loss ( ie performance) is another matter.

Gm killed how many people, 200-300, and still denies any culpability. They've paid a pittance in relative terms, I wouldn't help VW and I don't think GM should have been bailed out.

I agree w vanishing point. Toyota and gm had recalls that killed people and they won't take full blame for it but god forbid you cheat the government out of some mpg figures lol VW has so many other vehicles to sell besides VW that they will be fine
