No sheit...lots of OTHER cars are better than the X6 for a cross country trip...but who gives a crap?? We're not talking about cross-country trips!!
For a cross-country trip...go with a Suburban or an Excursion...or a custom van...
And while on that subject...it depends on WHO is going...if it were just me and the wife, I'd rock an X6 for the drive...but for "MORE" people...sure the larger beasts make sense.

Hmm the latest winding road pretty much sums up my initial impression of the X6. Given, the closest I've come to one in person is one driving the other direction on the freeway. Its not a bad looking cross over, but it doesn't seem to be too practical. The X5 already drove pretty well and has practically identical exterior dimensions aside from the sloping roofline which eats up rear headroom and cargo space.
The biggest difference seems to be that the X6 is less practical all around and comes with the engines (35i and soon 50i) that aren't yet available in the X5.

There must be a team of happy designers and bean-counters in Germany laughing their way to the bank because of the utter lack of taste of the people who would actually buy this afterbirth on wheels.
