since she is planning to lease, I think her lease budget and not the car's MSRP would've been better criteria to post. how much is she looking to use for down payment and how much on the monthly lease? since you said 20-25k, I would assume shes looking to put no more than 2500 down with approx. $200-250/mo payment. In that range, I would look at Honda, maybe Acura you could get into the high 200s low 300s, but im really not sure. best bet is to shop around and test drive cars. Some cars drive smoother, some accelerate faster, some more quiet interior, its all about people's personal preferences and what they need it for. Under a lease, longevity isn't an issue, so there shouldn't be maintenance required on the car.

my mom recently leased the new A4, her old A4 lease was 10k miles over (about 3k in cost). she got the S-line (the nice interior package, not the S4 sport model), with navigation, and 15k miles. she's paying about $450/mo and put down $3,000. not a bad deal considering she would've owed $3,000 had she not stayed with them and had to pay it off. you will find that a lot of dealers will work with you in order to keep you with them, but bringing someone new business isn't always as convenient.

BMW X1, MB GLA 250. MB C300 4matic.

I just leased my sister a c300 4matic. The interior is honestly amazing. w/ 12k/year on a $50k car i got it for $518/month.
Hmm, the OP stated 20k-25k budget...
yeah but than he said he was looking to lease... some of those cars lease close to the original cars he mentioned. You can get a c300 4matic in the 400s with less options.

Sorry, even if you can get a good lease deal on a 50k car it is still going to cost significantly more than an okay lease on a 20-25k car. Significant being 150-200 more per month...

not necessarily true. There are incentivized leases that can come close to lease prices on cheaper cars. A lot of the cheaper cars don't have good lease programs, they either have shitty residuals or high MFs. you can lease a c300 for about $400-$430/month. Some of the cars mentioned will lease for $300-$350. well worth it to spend the extra $50-100 on a car that MSRPs for almost double.

regardless he needs to tell us his monthly budget not his MSRP range. Even different $25k cars can lease very differently.

I have a 2014 CX5 GT with AWD. Have not had any issues with the car since we've only racked up 14k miles. The CX5 is easy to drive and easy to park in NYC. My only gripes are that it lacks a little pep and some interior plastics are not the greatest. Otherwise, it's got ample cargo space and seats 4 comfortably. I think the 2016 CX5 has made some interior and exterior improvements so definitely a car to test drive and consider.

Doesn't get much "cyoot"-er than a Mini. Countryman fits the bill.

Thanks for all the responses! I should have specified the target monthly payment. We are looking to put down no more than 2500ish up front with a monthly payment somewhere between 150-250ish? Maaaaybe a little more. The people suggesting leasing a nearly 40k c300 lol I feel like my middle school teacher. "READ THE INSTRUCTIONS".

I wholeheartedly agree with you, S2K Al. Unfortunately, I showed my mother a photo of the car and her review was that it was not "cyoot". lol

I spotted a 2016 Tucson on the road yesterday. Made me double-take. Great looking vehicle, I wonder if it drives as good as it looks?

Although I think I'm a bigger fan of the new Sportage:

The Koreans are really kicking Honda's butt in the styling department.
