If they aren't willing to compensate out of pocket, I dial in for a report. End of story.

yeah but it's fine. No major damage seen on both cars. She was very sad and sorry that it happen, I could have asked for money but i would probably use it to buy some other nonsense than fix the license plate.

Its just the universes way of telling you to get rid of your front plate.

That's kind of a tough stance to take in a case like this. The damage looks minor and it sounds like she was sorry. Probably more trouble than its worth to report it.

It's not about the money, it's the principle. You let it slide once they'll do it again.

If the damage is only to the license plate, then I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Get ti straightened out with a hammer and be on your way. Shit happens.

Or its a one time thing and both parties go on no worse for the wear.

I misjudged a parking job, scraped a guys older but well kept Lexus. Left a note as I am supposed to. Guy calls, says it doesn't look too bad and not too worry about it.

I am more careful now not less. The principle here is compassion. Understanding that accidents happen to everyone.

Just different ways of looking at the situation I suppose.
