Default Sports and GT US Sales Charts

As you can read, the Mustang had to be relegated to a different category:

As points of reference, Ford had sold more than 400,000 F-series trucks and Toyota had sold well over 200,000 Camry's through May

Source (and data for other market segments) - AutomoBear

Thoughts?

Gees, the C70 is still on that list? That one should be relegated to the "Modern Antique Sales" chart. Hard to believe but that car is 8 years old now.

Looks like the Vette and GTO are selling just fine.

you call GTO being outsold by the Mustang 10:1 fine?

Funny the NSX is like a dot "." on the sales chart.

Not to mention that the GTO is being outsold by the Crossfire and barely outselling the Thunderbird

What's amazing to me on that chart is the Corvette outselling the 350Z. Not that it doesn't beat the 350Z like a red headed stepchild in every category, but because it's about $20K more expensive. I really didn't expect that and it also makes me wonder about the decision making process over at GM when I look at Corvette/GTO numbers. I can't say for certain but I'd bet that the Corvette has never outsold the Camaro alone, much less Camaro/Firebird combined totals. Yet they were killed, some state because of "poor sales" and the GTO introduced, that seems to be working out rather well.

Edit: Damnit, somehow I managed the amazing internet feat of spelling Camaro (Camero) correctly twice yet managed to misspell Corvette.

yeah wtf! good post

yes I own a Camaro, but there is a huge market for a 3400lb muscle car with a detuned LS2 mated with a 6 speed tremec for around 25K.....will they build it, I hope.

Can't believe they'd kill the thunderbird b/c of poor sales, Thunderbirds have always outsold the S2000 by a lot.

Also the Camaro/Firebird were killed in part b/c they were built at a certain factory in Canada. GM was not allowed to close the plant and move production to another factory so they'll never be able to re-issue the Camaro/Firebird unless they use the same factory or pay them off somehow.

The GTO has to be the worst introduced car since the Aztec. There were plans to sell 4 times as many per year.
