STI or EVO

whats wrong with driving the S year round? scared of a little snow??

on topic: i was actually considering these 2 cars at one time and i found that early year Evos can be had for cheaper than early year STi's. Evo's are also cheaper to mod, and usually produce higher results than the STi (400whp is easier to get in an Evo than an STi). and also, i've heard that the Evo is slightly nimbler than the STi on when it comes to cornering/handling. it would be a hard choice for me, but in the end since power is so easy to make with the Evo, thats the car i would probably choose. Evo IX GSR-
Handles better, more feedback, easier to make power, 28K
I've had an VIII for two years with 0 issues.
Another contributor to inflated reliability issues is people who mod their car without doing so with safety margins (wideband o2 for tuning as an example) and return the car to stock when a problem occurs claiming manufacturer warranty.

I've driven both and I went in wanting the STI and came out wanting the EVO. Evo for sure. The IX just needs intake, exhaust, cams and chip (2K worth of materials) and the new Z06 will have to bow down to you on the quarter mile. Not sure about the track but you know it would be close.
EVO for sure. I haven't heard a terrible lot about either's reliability, all of my friends take religious care of their cars so they rarely if ever have issues with them.

I would go STI, I like STI a lot better, much more matured look.
The EVO is just too boy. Performance aside, the look alone is a deal breaker for me, even if it have 1000hp, I wouldn't want one. I would be embarrassed be seen driving one.
The up and coming Evo X/10 on the other hand is much better looking. You might want to hold off until EVO X.

Stock EVO dyno around 250rwhp. With addition of Intake, exhaust, cams and chip maybe 350rwhp if you are really lucky. Low 12s.
Even BPU+++ Supra won't give new C6 Z06 a run for its money.
