BMW z4/Supra doesn't seem that exciting, mostly because the Z4 already exists and unless there is a huge departure from the current Z4mula (see what I did there) then the new Supra will be good but not an epic standout. I have little faith that Toyota's current staff can pump more life into a car than BMW on its own but we will see...

I am excited to see the Supra name on a car again and if it can fire a Renaissance for the Toyota brand of sports car that will certainly be a good thing for enthusiasts.

Another blurb.....

Carbon fiber tub???Hmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting. Suggests the looks of the Toyota might be toned way down. Only Toyota would come out with a cool looking concept that gets everybody excited and then makes it boring. Well maybe not only Toyota, Honda would probably do that too.

toyota has been working on their Carbon Fiber processes. So Has BMW. A Carbon Tub would be dope. optional 2+2 Targa would be nice but also a 2 seater only option for less weight. toyota designed 300hp boosted 4 bagger for one option and BMW TT inline 6 for another.

Let's just hope they don't go with a hybrid only design. At least give us the outgoing M3 motor and maybe add on some regenerative braking that helps power gizmos, AC, lighting etc .. .

Both cars' MSRP were in the low-mid 30k range before options.

Supras we're $40k MRSP: http://jalopnik.com/lets-celebrate-t...da-1208367548; thus $57k in today's money.

Ok, not MSRP, but OTD prices were mid-30s to start. Keep in mind that there was massive inflation of Japanese cars in the 90s due to the valuations of the yen vs. dollar. Cars that were $35k in 93 then went on to be $55k+ by 98. I know for sure that happened with both the Supra and the 3000GT VR4. But still, in 1993, the Supra turbo could be had for $30s.

I wish I could find the old thread on supraforums.com where people posted their actual window stickers and/or prices OTD on 1993.5 Supras, but I can't seem to locate it. In any case, at http://www.cars.com/toyota/supra/1993/snapshot you can see that they have MSRP listed at 39k with invoice at 32k. It's reasonable to assume that some people got the cars for a number between those two ranges.
