Default Taking over bike payments....How to???

Hi, I may be taking over payments on a 2002 Ninja. How does this work? Do I just go to the dealer and get our name swapped or is it easier to just make payments to my friend and have him make payments to the finance company???

Just kidding.

You'd have to check with the company that's doing his financing and see if the loan is transferable or assumable. Many are not but it really depends on the institution.

Things may be different where you live, but I tend to think you still have to qualify for whatever is still owing. It's not like realestate where you have a considerable equity on a non-depreciating commodity. Motorcycles are high depreciation. Whatever "equity" is in a bike is quickly evaporated by depreciation. You may do just as well to get your own loan and pay out the existing one.
