Default Thinking about a new S2000

I had a 2003 S2000 and drove it 4000 miles before trading it in due to the need for more space. Ever since trading it in I have regretted it and really miss the car. I am now thinking of getting a new one but before I do I am considering other convertibles. I wanted your opinion on them and I will give you mine, at least on the ones I have driven.

1) The S2000 pros- you know them already cons: A little gutless on low revs and I already had one

2) Mustang Convertible GT cheesy look but very fast and fun. Suspect build quality. Can carry kids in it.

3) Lotus Elise - a bit of a kit car and I don't like the look

4) Corvette Convertible - pricey and hairy chest image but a whole lot of fun.

5) Mustang Convertible base - $22,000 = cheap but nasty fun

6) BMW Z4 refined, quite classy yet fun,

I have ruled out the 350z as I didn't like driving the car.I think I am most tempted by the mustang gt and the z4. I just got a Dodge Charget r/t and am getting fond of American Muscle.

Any of you have any views/ideas. I think I am probably going to go with another S2000, whats stops me is the fact I will have the same car twice and its gutless low end.

Well, I think you have made up your mind and just like watching your type flow on the net.

Have fun with the torquie Stang.

go with the Mustang GT. fast, fun and i think the new body looks great. plus there are tons of aftermarket go-fast parts available. very inexpensive to maintain as well.

mustang GT

i started a few (much hated) threads about this

and the maintenance should not be much worse than the S2K... its not like the S is as reliable of a honda as a civic

start flaming!

My problem is that I just got rid of an RX-8 and all the revving gets tiresome.
really?? i find it the opposite. i'm so accustomed to revving, that i'm usually disappointed when i drive a v6 and the engine cuts off at 6500rpm.

Anything but the Mustang Convertible base. Drive one and the GT back to back. The GT is IMO a much nicer car. Sounds like you've owned a bunch of cars. Have you owned a Corvette? If not you owe it to yourself to try one.

If you've got to carry kids go with the Mustang GT. I'd rather have the S2000 or Elise but the GT is a fun car to drive.

I definitely wouldn't buy the same car twice. There are so many good cars out there in your price range that it's crazy to not experience something else!

If I was buying a sportscar again I would go for a C6. Even a stripper has more equipment than the S2K, and the top comes off with little trouble for open skies when you want it. Finding one about 40K (or even a little less) is not that hard and it has alot of performance while still offering quiet comfort then closed up.. even gets reasonable mileage.
