Default Thinking of getting back into an S2K

So about a year ago exactly I traded my S2K for a loaded 2006 Z51 C6. The car has been ok and is indeed crazy fast but just isn't as much fun as the S2k on a daily basis and after a year it's also become clear that I'm probably just never going to "love" this car.
I'd like to go back to something smaller, lighter and more connected, the Boxster S and Cayman S come to mind but frankly I don't feel those would be responsible purchases in this economy (even with the crazy deals right now).

So the bottom line is that I'm thinking of getting back into an S2K, but I'm not entirely sure about the 08/09's. Can anyone comment on the VDC and the drive by wire as compared to earlier AP2's?
I used to have an 05 and I'd love to get back into exactly what I had but finding a good low miles version is not going to be that simple (Silverstone w/ black/red interior). The idea of getting a new one is quite appealing but I'm not thrilled about the Drive by wire and VDC. Also, it seems like you can only get red seats now and not red/black, can anyone confirm...?

What would you guys do, just toying with it for now. Also no sure I wouldn't just find the S weak after the vette, that car is capable, just not as much fun day to day.

Do it! If you don't love your current car and keep missing your old one, then it's a no-brainer.

i have an 07 with red and black seats. turn the VDC off when ever you want to get sideways. DBW is invisible to me...plus with DBW you have the option to get the Hondata Flash...more power and 8500rpm redline.

have you considered the new 370z?

No, don't go this route! You're looking for a light-weight, fun-to-drive roadster, and that's what you should stick to. The 370Z is slower than the Z06, and may not be as fun as the S. If you don't love the Z06, chances are, the 370Z isn't for you either.

Edit: the 370Z is much smaller than the Z06, so maybe it's more fun to drive, albeit much slower. I heard the 370 is as small or even smaller than the S.

it is smaller (shorter but maybe wider), but weighs more

well i think the Z would be a good mix of the s2k and the C6...he obviously got rid of the s2k for the C6 for some reason....

^ Oh, I misread it as a Z06. He should test drive both then. But chances are, he'll like the light-weight roadster more.

I had a 350Z before my 05 S2K. I'd been waiting for that car since the first concept and bought it right when it came out. Got lucky and didn't have some of the issues others had but ended up really not loving the car. Held on to it longer than I should have cause I loved the way it looked (I had color matched 3 piece OZ superleggeras on it with the deep lip).
Turns out the Z was a luxury coupe disguised as a sports car, not a real sports car. Heavy, engine felt like it choked out in the upper RPMs and it frankly didn't handle all that well. The 370Z might be better but lets just say I'm over it...

I would read that thread, and maybe pm the TS. Even though his corvette was a bit older than yours. It still may give you a better perspective.
