nope evo X isnt out in the U.S. yet from what i hear theres a "lacking" in performance from the X compared to the 9 soooooo that means for people like us interested in the 9 airnt going to experience much of a price drop at all... not more than usual anyways
kinda off topic but performance wise the evo didnt really "evolve" but the X is more user friendly

Also why not an STI?
To compare the Sti to Evo Stock for stock, the STi is the better daily car. The evo is the better track car. If you can afford an Evo IX, go that route, they have a different turbo and the Mivec. They make good power and it doesnt take alot of money...... (Intake, turbo back exhaust, boost controller, and a tune should put you at 330ishwhp) IMO the clutch is the weekpoint of the car. The Evo VIII is great too, just not as engineered as the IX. The IX is the last of the 4g63 and if i was in the market, it would be the one id get. The Evo VIII MR edition comes w/ a 6 speed but the 6 speed trans is weaker than the 5 speed trans. The Evo IX GSR would be what i would go for.

everything Iv read is that the handling is so much better in the evo. To me thats the most important part in a sports car so idk... seems like the evo was faster thru the corners but the sti is quicker off the line with more power...

IX is superior, seems to respond better to modding and u have the 6spd which I believe is still being debated if it's necessarily better.
The engine in itself is a great motor and overall reliable. But when the mods starts piling up and hard launching becomes routine, the car will start to show its threads. If you manage to find an unmolested example, there's no reason it can't be as reliable as an S2000.
With proper maitenance, I;m sure the paint will hold up just fine.
In the end, a car will hold up as well as u treat it.
Btw, yes the EVO has better handling over the STI, but honestly it really isn't by much especially to us commonfolk. The STI is just as capable for 90% of teh drivers out there and I tend to favor the STI (mostly because it;s uncharted territory for me). But to each their own.

The STI engine is fine to work on, except for spark plugs. But big deal, you don't change them every month.
The only 6 speed in an Evo is in the MR edition.
The Evo is just as reliable as an S2k.
You can probably get a new IX GSR for $27k at some Cali dealer. I think.
