For reliability I would go with the STI.

ok.... say I had to trade straight up... 22....21k to an evo 8 (if all possible ill try to save a little but im just trying to keep out of payments) would that be a remotely good idea? say an 04...05 30k miles on average im guessing would be around that price range....

whats mostly prone to need repair on a beat-to-hell evo?

No dealer is going to trade you straight up for your car unless they are making a killing. I can pretty much guarantee that. If you want to do something like that, you'd probably have to find an actual Evo owner.

I bet a good portion of Evo 8s out there have had 2+ owners already. Not something I'd want to get into. But it is a reliable car if taken care of properly. Just don't expect any sort of original manufacturer's warranty. I think they had a 10 year warranty on them.

Go to an Evo forum for more detailed answers: http://www.evolutionm.net/

Nothing. That's just garbage. They're both equally reliable if properly cared for. Subaru drivers are smarter than Mitsu drivers, on the whole, so that's why it seems like Imprezas are more reliable than Lancers

ok huge huge one (for me) for anyones thats test driven one.. I know i need to drive one but in your opinion how is the petal placement in comparison to the s2k?

Far as heel-toe shifting goes the s2k is one of the better cars iv driven. (in comparison to say a new civic si, and very worse case scenario scion tc.)
