I guess I'm just too old to understand that analysis.
I'm not sure if I understand it either. All I know is that I've done it. not on every car, and not always is it acheivable. but it's happened.

I am not sure we can ascertain he was driving intentionally on the shoulder. There are many accidents caused by cars being parked on the shoulder. Drivers from behind may think it is just another lane for whatever reasons (low visibility, no emergency flashers/road flares, driver distracted/not paying attention, etc.).
I know I have mistaken the shoulder for a lane at least once before, although I didn't actually get in there. I am sure it has happened to more members, it is not that hard to do especially when someone just pulls over and leaves their tailights on. Be careful out there.
Let's look at this another way. The driver of the Vette is cognisant enough to see the tail lights of the semi and goes into the shoulder thinking it's a driving lane, yet, he doesn't see that he's gaining ground on those lights at a rapid pace? Sure, it happens. I've seen it many times. Intentional or not, but sorry, it's still Darwin's Law at work.

It looks like the victim is still stuck in the car, judging by the picture.

That does look like the driver's arm. If they pronounced him dead at the scene, it is most likely that he's still in the car when that picture was taken. They would only remove him is he was still alive. If that is his arm, then judging by the seating position, it didn't look like he tried to duck or the airbag pushed upright again. If that were the case, then death would have been instantaneous.

Oh really?!! He probably felt a little bump on the ass of his semi. Of course he was not injured. Even if it were a head-on collision, I don't think he would've been injured either.

Yet another tragic death by a youth trying to replicate a Fast and Furious movie stunt. YOU FOOL! You can only drive under a semi from side to side, not back to front!

In all seriousness, sucks a bunch.
