I really hope this is not a late April fools joke.
Like I've said in earlier posts,
The IVTEC engines are gonna feel faster at lower speeds because they have more torque. That's the benefit of the IVTEC. The RSX guys are getting a lot of power out of the K motor because the ECU will accept a flash bios.
I put my name on a white one.

CTR is not any lighter than s2k. In my country, car's tech documents of s2k state it weights 1268kg and CTR 1320kg. I weighted my car 3 weeks ago and it was exactly 1250kg with full tank, full cleaning fluid, no driver, no spare tire. The tech documents can have inaccurate data (happens often, but usually the real weight than specified in tech document), but there is no doubt, that CTR is heavier than 1250kg.

As for putting the CTR engine in the S, I dunno. Certainly it's more moddable, but assuming a revamped S would include more bhp, that means Honda would have to be putting the car on the market at around 270bhp for any meaningful increase. I'm sure that's achievable without forced induction, but at what cost?
Losing that last 1K revs in each gear in the S would also totally alter the nature of the beast.... and not to everyone's liking I'm sure.
Andrew:
You don't care what the CTR looks like when you're screaming round in it!
my biggest problem (and correct me if im wrong) is that the new CTR is mostly a regular civic with harder suspension, big wheels, and the ECU from an RSX type s. to me that really doesnt count as a type R.
when i think of type R i think of hand built, ported and polished motors like in the integra type R and the s2000... (because honestly the s2000 is the type R of the whole honda range, except for the NSX maybe.)

Bit of an over-simplification there, I think, there's a lot more to the CTR than that. Coming from an S to the CTR I was expecting to be more than a little disappointed, but not so, it hugs corners with virtually no body roll and the performance is quite awesome. R Type purists will say it shouldn't have air-con, although it's an option, and they even complain about the minimal sound proofing that the car gets compared to the original Teg. On gritty roads, the rattle and patter of stuff being thrown up under the car leaves you in no doubt that there's the minimum of soundproofing been added.
The S can never be a Type R until they stick a fixed top on it. Type R cars can't even have a sun roof as it compromises body rigidity. We don't get the RSX over here so I can't comment, but the CTR is the genuine Type R McCoy, don't doubt it!

As I understand, the CTR is considerably lighter than the Si. It is supposed to be 30% more rigid also.
Nobody is saying anything about hp, but it's supposed to be "over" 200, whatever that means.

According to some in the UK it's every bit as quick as a well-driven S2000. I've driven one here and it's very quick in a straight line, too. I was not able to launch the car hard due to very low temperatures and therefore little traction, but once on the move it felt noticeably peppier than my '00 ITR. It has massive brakes with very good feedback. Awesome seats and direct - if a bit lifeless - steering.
It will be an awesome little car. The one I drove was silver. It looks great. However, I'll have to take her in white.
