I should make up a bumper sticker for those of us who don't have Toyotas telling Toyota drivers to shift into neutral before they slam into the back of my car.

$100 to the first person who can take a picture of a crashed Toyota with a LOYALTOYOTA bumper sticker on it.
Does the bumper sticker have to be on the car before the wreck?

I read all about this guy in the Prius, that guy is a liar. He said he got on the brakes but they didn't do anything to slow the car down.

I'm sorry, but a Prius does not have the power to overcome the brakes.

Car and Driver did a test on this and even a 500hp mustang with the throttle pinned was able to be slowed practically to a halt. Granted it probably has bigger brakes than a Prius, but come on. All 3 cars they tested were able to be stopped by the brakes.

This Prius guy is trying to get publicity or cash in somehow on the current Toyota craze.
I was waiting to read a post like this.

After seeing and hearing the guy on the Today show this morning, that is exactly what I thought.

And don't act like the general public are a bunch of car nuts (nerds) like us, they aren't. They know P, D, and R, and that is about it. It's not this guy's fault that his car kept accelerating when he wasn't on the gas or that he was pushing the brake to the floor and it wouldn't stop the vehicle either. This is a Toyota problem that is getting worse because of drivers going into panic mode. I've read about a lot of crazy stuff that people do or don't do when they are panicked. The last thing I'm going to do is call this guy a name or anything else.

I'm convinced that people on the internet live to trounce anything and everything they can. Similar to a dumb kid pointing his finger saying "neener neener." If you want to be a child then by all means. Won't do you any good though.
So during this tard's 30 minutes of 90mph highway driving he couldn't get it together for 10 seconds to figure out how to stop the car? The guy should be called a name and I'm calling him an attention whoring dumbass-he should be jailed.
Also, If only car nuts are expected to posess the knowledge required to stop a 2 ton car then we should be the only ones on the road.

just so i'm 100% clear: there is no such a thing as a (N)eutral lock out, right? I rarely drive slushboxes but it seems N is always easy to push into from D.

So far as we can tell no. However, I did hear that the M3 will not shift to neutral if you are on the gas.

Maybe now is a good time to preach about how GREAT Manual Transmissions are! No automatic bs acceleration with our cars! And your damn straight we know how to find Neutral.
Either learn to drive a straight or suffer automatic death.

i have heard from a prius owner that you cannot put the car into neutral while the gas is on. anyone wanna confirm this?

although not that it really sounds like it matters, this video the that woman posted on youtube was awesome. no way in hell a car as underpowered as a Prius will have a problem stopping just because the throttle is stuck open.
