Uncontrolled acceleration

The prius forums dug up some dirt on this guy (no source listed yet, so take this with a grain of salt). Apparently he's reported 2 false burglaries in the past...
and the plot thickens

The whole guy's story sounds like he is fishing for a BIG lawsuit.

now why not start looking in to all of the other people who reported problems with the same thoroughness?
Just pointing out it could have easily been avoided. The driver spent 30 minutes on the phone and repeatedly received instructions on how to stop the car, all of which he ignored. The fact that he did this makes me a little suspicious.
At what point do you stop blaming the car, and start blaming stupidity?

Brakes, gears, e-brake did nothing according to her
sounds like a damn EMP went off in her car and severed all of the mechanical lines too.
sorry, but there are too many holes in the story.
isn't this the lady that didn't even say anything about the malfunction, didn't fix anything, sold the car. and is all of the sudden trying to collect damages from toyota when she wasn't harmed at all?
am I the only one that smells the BS here?

Wait, hold on, so just because there IS a solution (shift into N, depress brakes, shut off ignition, etc. etc. etc.), does that mean unintended acceleration or a stuck throttle is not a big deal?

Huh wah? Somebody splain how this is possible. Does the Lexus tranny have a shift by wire system too? And it can be locked out by the engine computer? Most cars I have any experience with an auto have a separate control unit for the transmission.
If Toyota engineered a system that allows a computer to lock out control from the driver well that would be just stupid and its hard for me to believe they would do something THAT dumb. I mean, a glitch that can make the throttle stick, ok, a big mistake. But just no fail safes in the whole damn car? Seriously? And I still have a hard time with the brakes not being able to overpower the engine. Why do I keep thinking of the finding in the old Audi cases where they found driver mistaking the gas for the brake?

the new fix isn't addressing any problem with the DBW it just automatically cuts the throttle when the brakes are pressed.
I've seen a few TV news interviews with Toyota owners who were able to stop their cars when the malfunction happened. They were acting like it wasn't a big deal, just turn off the engine and pull over.
I believe most of the people who say they had an electrical malfunction, it's not impossible to believe a computer controlled throttle has a glitch.
What I find hard to believe is the people who call 911 on their cell phones. Pitiful people whose first instinct is to turn to someone else for help (someone who couldn't possibly help). When you're the one behind the wheel of a car and there's no one else in the car with you it's time to remove your cranium from your rectum and save your own ass.
