Well one thing I do know..
If I drove a Toyota my morning commute to work would take a LOT less time.

because you can do 90-100 the whole way there and if you get pulled over say the car was accelerating unintentionally?

Brakes, gears, e-brake did nothing according to her
You know, nothing worked, I was doing 200mph, but I managed to call my husband to tell him I'm going to die and all of a sudden everything worked again?
Darwin should have eliminated her a long time ago.
I really don't have anything to add to this thread other than I
you guys... Every last one of you.
This issue has had me in a smoldering rage since before the holidays. FINALLY someone that agrees with me.
I posed this question to my family as we sat around the Thanksgiving table. Mind you, there were some VERY highly educated and worldly people at that table. None of them came up with what I think is the right answer (put the car in neutral).
I very clearly remember my father teaching me to drive and imparting some very critical rules about car control. He would actually try and fake me out by screaming things at me while we were going down the road. He even grabbed the wheel one time... All of this was to teach me what the car would or could do. One of the first lessons was what all the letters and numbers on the shifter were for. Unfortunately, I lost him to cancer some 10 years ago. I would have gotten it right at that dinner table...
I'm sorry but you don't need to be a driving enthusiast to know that if your car is accelerating without your foot on the pedal you should shift into neutral. IMHO, that is basic car control.

i guess it's nothing new with these reports of unintended acceleration, found this video from motorweek where they report having experience unintended acceleration on a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville.
