Default US Honda Civic to get Type R engine

It appears Honda is finally starting to step it up in the area of performance..now if we can just see another RWD sports car with it.

It would certainly be a breath of fresh air for the Si to get such an upgrade but I have my doubts that they would jump from 200hp to 276hp+ in a single generation. It's just usually not how this stuff works. I will be very pleased if Honda has decided to let us have it though, the big H could use a boost.

The type r is supposed to be boosted, correct? If so then I don't see it having a problem reaching high 200hp... if the US version gets the same motor that is...

Honda needs to turn the Type-R brand in North America into what BMW did with their M models. Market the hell out of it and make it more broadly available. They obviously have the engineering talent, they just need to make models available for consumers to buy, even if it means diluting things a bit. Even a slightly watered down Type-R would do wonders for Honda's current brand image.

And in the UK they're taking orders for the NSX and the Type R too.

Step in the right direction that's sure, but I don't seeing this being RWD. If it were, it'd be a big seller in the US. Honda is keen on not offering what the consumer wants the last decade when it comes to sporty cars.

I'm not of the fabric that buys something just because of its emblem, in this case a honda. High powered fwd cars are relatively abundant with the ford st's, ms3,etc so they're late to the party.I'd still rather see a k20 powered crz or fit for you five door folks honestly. Why not an ilx with the turbo motor and sh-awd?

Even though Toyota, Subaru, and Hyundai were late to the punch of what the consumer wants; they still punched. Honda is not even in the ring!

Make it awd and it can be decent. Already been fwd turbo 4's out for years. MS3, ST etc. This is 5-10 years late to the game. Better than nothing but who wants a turbo fwd car?! This just means they may finally catch up to competitors in the power department. About time if they do. They've been out powered by a lot for a long time now!

I'm hoping there's some truth to the rumor that they may put this turbo engine into the CRZ.
