What defines a "sports car?"

That's what he says. He's relying on things like SCCA rules -- which are at least written. The 911 is a sedan.

Don' confuse race car with sports car.

Though to be fair, if you search C&D's website there are many articles using "sports car" differently from that one writer.

You can enjoy them both very much on the road, they are perfect, text book sports cars.

For me a sports car is a car that is designed to provide driving pleasure first, transportation second. I.e. a car that you drive for sport, not for going places.

High performance can contribute to driving pleasure but I don't consider it a requirement. There are slow cars that are great to drive and there are fast cars that are not.

agreed. "engineered from the ground up" is one of the biggest keys to me. a car that is not based on any other model but built for the sole purpose of being a sports car.
