^^ I would say the 335 engine would have more end game potential but the Sti already has a vast aftermarket now and probably always will.

the 335I actually makes 350HP, as it dyno's around 300 to the wheels. I dont get why magazines keep asking why its so much faster than other cars with more power than it like the IS350 and G37, when in reality, the 335I has more power and torque.

Just thought I'd add that in. Since the 08 STI isnt out yet, and I am not sure of the differences, I would wager that the BMW would be easier to modify, simple because it has about a year on the STI. In the end, I think the STI motor will be better, as people will be more willing to modify it as they have for the past couple of years where the 335I does not have that base to work off of.

You could always do an 08 viper 50-60whp with just header and exhaust!

Base for base, then yeah, but prices go up rapidly if you are checking the option boxes.

I have decided on the Sti myself.

BMW aftermarket dose not come cheap. As already stated.(and I can tell you first hand the cost) If you have deep pockets you can do great stuff with a BMW. Not rich go with the STi

More a money question then which one you can do more with. Both are going to have good quality.
SOOOO how rich are you?

08 Sti has a pretty similar engine to the previous....it has varaible timing on the intake and exhaust side now, a sligtly different turbo and different tune. stock it makes around the same whp/wtq as te previous years it seems...in some case a bit less whp and a bit more wtq

a couple tuning houses in socal already got their 08 STi's and put it on the dyno

4k in a subaru is going to bring you in the mid 400's to near 500awhp which is a good amount more then the BMW.
