. At the end of the day your still stuck with a 70,000 dollar Nissan.
since when did the gtr become a 2 seater? they've always been 2+2 coupes.
for me, i've always had a soft spot for skylines; for their awd ( rear biased), modability, looks, etc. and prolly cus we couldnt get on in the states.
when the r34 gtr was first made into production, it was the first production car back then to beat the 8 minute mark around nurburgring. how bout the m3? sure the gtr doesn't have luxury blah blah but for me, performance is more important. and im sure nissan won't disappoint the world and im also sure the new skyline will only bests the old one.
the gtr, imo, is not aimed at the new m3's but the 997 911 turbo. i've never liked the bangled bmw's that came out. i loved the way the e46 m3's looked but still hate the new 3 series coupes.
to sum it down, GTR for me please.

Maybe someone can clarify this. Is the GT-R a 2 seat car or a 2+2? Its got a trunk like the G35 coupe and it's got more of a roof than the 350Z.
Well if it's a 2+2 it's probably going be be much tighter in back than the M3.
As far as it being a $70K Nissan, that can be a problem, I think it would be better as an Infiniti along side $50K+ cars they are already selling. Toyota has been able to sell $60K+ cars (the Land Cruiser) but VW had had a rough time selling the Phaeton. IMO people will still balk at a $70K Nissan just as there was some grumbling about the Z06 and the Viper, but as those two cars have done well I think if the GT-R is great it will do OK as a Nissan (but it fits better as an Infiniti).
I think it's 'pie in the sky' to say the GT-R is aimed at the 911 turbo when the price of the M3 v GT-R is closer to reality. The weight of both will be 3600 lbs - 3700 lbs front engine (2+2 ?).

GTR!
Not a bmw fan to begin with but I do love the new 335 coupe.
And when the M comes out, hopefully demand and price will come
down on the 335 and i might have to pick up a white/red coupe

"The corvette has been around for over 40 years and has been kicking ass ever since" Puleeese do a little research before inserting your foot so far in your mouth. Prior to the C5 the Corvette was just good enough to beat the pony cars. The peak of the C4, te ZR-1, is able to just barely squeak past the S2000 on any twisty course.
And knocking Nissan as a brand? Do the words "glass house" have any meaning for you? What, all the prior GT-R's were crap? You don't remember Datsun? The 1969 240Z was an expensive car for its day, about double the average price. Someone like you was probably crying about it back then too.

You're Stuck With A $70,000 Dollar Nissan:
While I believe that there are still plenty of people whom are sympathetic to the above statement...I also believe that it is a feeling that is slowly going by the wayside.
I can't speak on behalf of the whole country, so I'll speak on behalf of my area (southern California). I believe, if you were to poll young males (18-35) as to which car companies are the "best" (best; not meaning best performance, best reliability, cheapest, low maintenance, most desired...but rather a combination of all of the aforementioned) the front runners would be Toyota and Honda. In the top five, you would probably hear the name Nissan come up a lot as well.
I think the "Who would spend 70K on a Nissan/Toyota/Honda/etc..." question holds true for older generations. But my generation is coming up. There are 25 year olds with the means to buy a $70,000 car now...and they would consider said Japanese companies as serious contenders for their purchase.
One final Note to "PenForHire"
Assuming that you live in Whittier CA...and not Whittier Alaska; Howdy Neighbor.
If you see a blue 350Z puttin' around, there's a good chance it's me.

100%. The last GTR (R34) was an awesome performance machine and Nissan is not about to take a step backward with the new one. That's why they've been testing the car so much, alongside with the 911TT. The R34 was amazing because of the amazing engine, AWD and AWS systems. It wasn't that nice-looking though, but this new GTR will look much better.
From the pics, I think Nissan has converted the new GTR to be a 2-seater coupe.
