Default Why does the Prelude hold

I was looking through Autotrader at Preludes ('99+), and Preludes seem to hold better value than the S2000. Why? A prelude with 2000 or 2001 prelude with 50K on it is still going for 18k to 20k? WTF?

I would suppose because its the last model of a discontinued car, plus the production was very limited - 54k total made from 97-01

FYI 18-20 is out there for one with 50k miles on it, mine has 57k and I could at best get 15 for it, 13.5-14 more likely

People can ask all they want for a car but it doesn't mean they're going to find a buyer at that price.

I'd venture to guess that these people would get no more tha $12-13k for a Prelude with 50k miles on it and that is being extremely generous. I don't see how there is anyway for the car that Honda had to remove from its line because it wasn't selling at all to have a strong resale value.

According to KBB retail prices:

2001 Prelude Type SH with 55,000 miles - $18,235
2001 S2000 with 55,000 miles - $21,065

About a $2k difference. Interestingly, there's a $4,000 difference in trade-in values. $12k vs $16k. Weird. How much were Type SH's new?

The SH was $27k new in 2001 if I recall correctly. Believe it or not, the SH usually doesnt net much more than the base unless you can happen to sell it to someone who is specifically after an SH. And most of the info here is correct on resale value, The only 2001 Ludes you will get 17-18k out of have less than 20k miles on them, otherwise, those prices are not what people pay. Like I said, I have 57k on my 01, trade in value is just over 12 KBB is 15 or so I believe, I would expect 13-14 selling it to a private party, 18-20 is not gonna happen.

I owned a '98 and traded it in at 30k miles at a cost of about $4k off purchase price once taxes are considered. That is good resale and one reason I have an S2000 now.
