Published weights in Japan are different than published weights in the US.
So that 2950lb is completely dry. No engine oil, no rad fluid, no transmission fluid, no diff fluid, no intercooler water spray fluid NOTHING.
The US weight is the Japanese dry weight + all fluids so that the car actually runs + half tank of gas.
The EVO8 actually weighs less than 100lb more than the EVO7, part of that is the larger fuel tank, most of it is in the US spec bumper bars.

Subaru won't reveal the exact specs until the last minute. Because as soon as they do, Mitsubishi will be readying their return salvo. Secrecy is a good thing, some times.

Ya...now that I have been waiting forever for the evo...."the mother ship" on the evo board indicates (privately, so don't tell anyone)...that there may be a RS model coming out....i would imagine they could strip out 200lbs pretty easy......
but...hopefully my evo will be here today.... every part of the freaking earth has these except for the 3 dealers in central pa.

Some guy at www.beyond.ca got hold of a document from Subaru with the tech specs for the Canadian bound STi.

1484kg. What I was afraid of. It's even heavier than the massively overweight US Evo 8 (1480kg).
The Swedish version is 1455kg. Just 29kg lighter. And not just that, it doesn't have that varible/driver controlled center diff. 265hp and it costs a ton more than the Canadian version. I posted a price comparision between some countries before in this forum. If it only was 1355kg instead. Then it would be something.
Swedish WRX is 1370kg, 29kg lighter than the Canadian version. I think I'd honestly prefer it more.
How come both Swedish Imprezas are exactly 29kg lighter? Some kind of specification error or is it 29kg of sound deadening etc?
I think I will go look at my neighbors dark blue Evo VI..
By the way, for group N homologation earlier, Lancer Evo 5 RS-II was released in Germany but not here in Sweden. It weighed something nutty like 1250kg, just 20kg more than a WRC car.

If your funny money wasn't so worthless, you'd have an Evo8!
