I'm not sure if these Modena driver were driving 10/10th's or not.

From the look of it the S2000 is being driven at 10/10th (or close to it), while the Ferraries are not even driven at 5/10th .... they are not even trying under braking and through the corners. You only see their speed on the straights where they actually open them up.

Yeah, that car is not even close to stock.
Actually, the driver in that vid stated that his S was stock in another thread.

The point is, a 360 is night and day faster than a 348 on the straights and around turns. It's over a full second faster to 60mph and in the 1/4 mile. There definitely wouldn't be that much pulling on the straights.

The 348 would take the S in acceleration but it wouldn't be all that far apart. The 348 is very twitchy at high speeds so on the track this may play into the S2000's favor. Out of all the V-8 Fcars from the 70's to 90's many consider the 348 the most $$ to own with the 30k service costing more than even what it does for the 355.

I'd put my money on the S2000 on the track. The 348 puts up strong acceleration and lateral grip numbers, but the pucker factor from driving close to the limit would hurt the Ferrari's track performance.

I have some first hand experience with the Ferrari as my brother owned a 348ts for a year, back in 1994.

URL? His web site disagrees.

Anyway, waltk88 knows how to drive, and unlike anyone else on this thread, has actually driven a 348.

Here's a post from me a while ago, and the responses. In retrospect, I can't believe I did this, but live and let learn....trust me.

What a fantastic race.

Driving on the 495 beltway the other day, I hear all this noise (reving!) coming from behind me. I look in my rearview mirror and see a red Ferrari on my tail. This thing looked lower then my car. I couldn't believe it! Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about trying to race, I just wanted a better look at it.

I look back in my rearview again and I see him switch to the right lane, on my passenger side. I knew then he was going to try to race! I'm not a big racer but I figured what the hell, how often do you get to race a Ferrari?

Well, as soon as I noticed he switched to the lane next to me, I slammed it into 3rd and floored it. We were doing about 60-65 mph then. He slowly passes me as we approach 95 mph.

He switches to my lane, and I'm right on his rear. We begin to accelerate and pass 110. I'm still right on his rear. I couldn't believe it.

I then notice my AC is on! It was like 98 degrees and humid as hell. I hate having the AC on, but it was a must that day since I was in work attire. I got so "wrapped" up in the fact that I was racing a Ferrari that I forgot to shut it off!

As soon as I turned it off, I realize my exit (66W) was about a 1/2 mile ahead, so I began to let off the accelerator and the Ferrari continued on its way. I never expected to beat him, (especially 130mph +) but I'm sure I surprised the hell out of him, and that's all I wanted!

Click here for the specs on that exact car.....
