This is going to add a lot of weight to any car that employs it, so you'd better be ready for that. You also can't necessarily mount the batteries low in the chassis, the way an OEM would, so that weight is going to be higher than you'd want it.

Bottom line - no, I can't think of any vehicle that would benefit from this. A sporty car might be "quick" but batteries in the trunk or behind the seats aren't going to made it handle very well. A sedan is going to lose trunk space due to batteries so again, I don't see how it would work that well.

Well, Lotus has designed their platforms to be EV ready for over a decade now. Maybe more manufacturers will have that flexibility in the genesis of their designs? Looks like this is happening with BMW, JLR, and Volvo to name a few.

Sure, but Lotus sells 7 cars a year. What about the other hundreds of millions of vehicles out there? How many have room for batteries under/in the same plane as the lower section of the chassis (where they are on most EVs)?

I would, why not. Something cool and cheap due to reliability concerns, something where the engine wasn't the star of the platform. Datsun 510? Chevy corvair? Karman gia?

I always thought an electric DeLorean would be cool. It's a crap motor to begin with, and there's something about 1.21 "Jigawatts".

I like the benefits of an electric motor - simplicity and immediate torque. As soon as somebody figures out a better way to provide power to that motor I am all in, today’s battery technology is not cutting it.

at a stoplight the other day beside a Tesla, I rolled down my window so I could listen to it take off. I heard a bit of a clunking noise then nothing after that, not enough noise for an S2000. If someone likes that idea then all the power to them. I can see how people are falling asleep in their Teslas, too damn quiet.

Rolls Royce says the only sound you should hear in their car is the clock ticking.

A G-Wagon/Puch would be cool as well as Defender 110 conversion.
