Would you ever undertake an electric conversion project?
at a stoplight the other day beside a Tesla, I rolled down my window so I could listen to it take off. I heard a bit of a clunking noise then nothing after that, not enough noise for an S2000. If someone likes that idea then all the power to them. I can see how people are falling asleep in their Teslas, too damn quiet.
I like the idea of electric commuters when you are stuck in heavy traffic and want to zip in and out of tiny holes in congestion. But as a weekend car, they leave me flat.
I asked the question about the crate motor because I kind of think dropping one into and old SW20 MR2 might be cool, to use as a commuter. But I can't tell if I think that would be any way superior to just getting a cheap Miata to commute in. It would be slower, but you get to shift gears, hear the engine, and throw it around with abandon.

The miata for a cheap commuter tends to work well for many. I know a guy here that autocrosses and STS Miata, races a Spec Miata and bought a beater miata for his winter car
Says it is a blast on real winter tires and then he gets to put the studded tires on it and go ice racing in the winter
Not sure I would want to do an e-swap in one though. I mean I guess it kinda makes sense seeing as how you can find cheap ones around. But also kinda kills the major fun part o the miata which is handling
