No way, not unless I knew the owner personally. There is just too much risk IMO.

if the car was tuned by the right shop, even built by the right shop and put together by the right shop, then you could be buying a modded car at a great price and getting yourself a great bargain.

so the answer really depends....

It really depends on what kind of work's been done on it and how clean the work is. It's usually not very hard to tell a hack job from a professional job.

If you were looking for a project car or track car and went into it that way, maybe. For a DD, no way!

I would say no. Esp when the seller is using words like "it's fresh" or "vtech" to describe the car, I couldn't run away fast enough.

Agreed.

I don't understand the concept of "its modified, its been beat on". For a ricer, yea sure - but a tastefully done MKIV Supra, M3, S2000, 350Z, G35, Evo, STi, etc...?

I would have no problem buying a modified car especially if its been well cared for - I would think there are more people like me out there who dump thousands into their cars because we love and want to take care of them.

Off the top of my head I can think of at least 20 S2000s from here I would buy - and half are supercharged, all having been modified.

Depends on who the seller is. If it's your typical 18-22 year old kid, no way. If it was someone older who had to resources to do it right, maybe.

just cause they are young doesn't mean they don't have the resources to do it right, yes your right theres a much larger chance if they are young they don't, but not all do, i would check the car out you never know. I agree with what rnye said

I would not buy anything other than pure stock unless it came with a log book and a guarantee that it conforms to the rules for the class that I plan to run in.
