Which would you rather take out on the back roads?

Let's see here... do I want to drive a hideous car with uninspired lines and a recycled plastic interior? Or should I drive a sexy well-engineered machine? Yep, Boxster all the way.

 

Not many cars are as balanced and precise as the Boxster/Cayman S; so that's my choice.

 

I've never driven either, but I'll take the roadster over the "convertible sports car" any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

 

I'd take the Boxster if it was just me. If I had my significant other along, I'd take the Vette.

 

You do realize the C6 was designed as a convertible (ie, roadster) first and foremost, right?

That's kind of a tough one for me. Nothing but twisty back roads, probably the Boxster S. However, I have traveled back roads, snow covered roads and mountain twisties in a C6 F55 Vert. I'm much more likely to buy a Corvette. I have BTW driven both. Not the Grand Sport but the Z51 it replaced and the ZO6.

 

I haven't drive a recent example of either car. I've only driven an older Boxster and a 2005 C6 (Z51). They are both very good in their own ways. The Corvette felt great when you could open it up but rather dull at lower speeds. The older Boxster felt more alive at lower speeds. The Boxster really looks good as a vert (I'm kind of considering the Boxster and Cayman to be the same car). I think the C6 looks much better as a coupe. They are both great looking cars on the outside. On the inside the fit and finish is basically equal. Yes, I said equal. The older Boxsters are actually inferior to the Corvette in that regard. I've said this many times before, if you look at the materials and fit in detail you will find the Porsche isn't that good. However, the Corvette has a very uninspired interior. The Boxster has a better styled interior and doesn't have a cheap looking airbag cover. As for which is better engineered? Well I can name things about each that are better or worse. It's foolish and shows a gross lack of understanding to claim one is fundamentally better engineered than another.

Anyway, earlier you made a comment about the Corvette being a mid engine car. No, the Boxster is a classical mid engine car. The Corvette is a front engine car (front engine means engine in front of driver, it was not a description of front axle with respect to the engine).
