Default Are you a Corvette guy or a 911 guy?

Both are great cars, somewhat different focus. I know the vette is more value twice the displacement for 50% of the price. In some ways people will say the vette sells on price. Like some may say a 350Z or Mustang sells well b/c they are cheap.

The 911 may be a tiny bit more practical with it's bitty rear seats. Also the 911 is not quite as common as the vette.

Most car guys (I assume) will say the 911 is a better car (take away the price difference).

^^ do you guys agree? Anyone rather have a Vette (without its price advantage?)

So anyway what's your thoughts? Not trying to put down one car or the other but which one takes the cake for you?

NA is better.

Seriously, how can you compare if you don't include price? Which would you get an Enzo or an Escort, assuming price weren't a factor? It just doesn't fly. IMHO you have to look at the total package.

To me the Corvette's package is ALL there. Performance, styling AND price. Notice practicality doesn't really enter into it for me.

If the 911TT and the Corvette were BOTH the same price as the '04 Z06 it would be a tough call, but I would probably still have gone with the 'vette.

When I was young I wanted a P-car. Corvettes never did anything for me until 2001 (Z06). OK I liked the ZR-1 a little bit, bit for me 911 all the way. I've driven two 996s and had a few misgivings, but the 997 looks to have addressed most of them, making a good/great car better. Same thing with the C5 -> C6 but not quite up to auto lust yet. I still may buy a vette, but ONLY b/c its a value over a 911.

My point is, Vette is the value pick.

I'm not even saying 911 tt vs Z06 could be C5 400hp v 911 base 325hp. You're still paying a premium to get the baby 911. If your number one priority is bang-for-the-buck then vette wins. If you value something else more than bftb then maybe you'll pay extra for the P-car.

Between those two, I'd so pick the 911--same performance but better quality inside out.

I've often thought about these comparisons..here in L.A., you have an even number of both. The kid in me wants a vette, but the logical more grown up part of me, wants the classier p-car. Very very hard choice for me....the p-car is so much more mature, but the vette is the kind of car I'd be drawing as a kid.

The Vette is the better car with price factored in (i.e. real life for most people). For those with a lot of cash to burn, the P car is the way to go.

Luckily, I talked one of my 32yo friends into ordering a 997S. He has one of the first 2006 911S coming. He has the sport exhaust and sport shifter along with a host of other goodies. He's also doing European delivery. I'm thinking about going with him over there. It's going to be bada**.

I have another friend that is #2 on the list at one of the largest Chevy dealers in the DFW metroplex for the '06 Z06. Another just placed an order for a Z51 six-speed C6.

It's going to be fun driving my friend's cars here over the next several months.

Not true. You don't buy a Porsche b/c you have nothing better to do with your money - same thing for a Corvette, or there'd be more SRT-4's on the road.
