Default you think the bugatti could win?

Obviously the guys at top gear haven't tested the Veyron yet, but if they did, how do you think it would do? I personally don't think it would be near the top 3 due to its weight, even though it has an astronomically high HP rating. Thoughts?

BTW here are the times from top gear around their track.

If the McLaren SLR can get those numbers, I'm sure the Veyron will be in the top 3. That thing is a monstrer with probably the widest tires out of the bunch.

I don't think the weight is an issue. It's the turbo lag which might cause problems.

Reports from Gordon Murray and authors from EVO and other magazines, have mentioned that whilst the HP numbers are impressive and the car being a fast one, it takes a great while for the turbos to kick in, after which you get the real deal being put down.

I think the Bugatti may have some problems in the harder corners where the Stig would need to change gears a lot in order to keep the turbos spooling, but an error in his part may cause him to slow down too much effectively losing precious seconds.

I suspect it'll be up there in the top 5, perhaps even top 3.

In short tracks - handling is the king. Therefore with its HP, and so - so handling(I haven't read a single report bragging about it) I expect it to be around the Ford GT times. Better than the Murci due to HP advantage but probably not beter than the Ford GT due to the handling disadvantage.

I'll be surprised if it beats the GT3 (and doesn't end up in the weeds). That weight has to be a killer on that track.

I'm surprised they didnt take the Veyron around the track when they had it for the Veyron vs Plane episode.

Oh, and I believe your list may be incomplete. They had the Stig take an F1 car (Renault, I believe) around and it totally annihilated everything.. But then again, it's not a 'real world' car.

Well, "the list" has another problem doesn't it? No accounting for weather conditions.

The S would have done better if it were not raining that day.

I put the Bugatti in the top 10 for sure

maybe the rumoured lighter weight Bug would be a better thing on a track (I'd have mine with fixed spoilers, maybe smaller turbo's, etc).
