BTW here are the times from top gear around their track.

1 min 31.6 secs - Honda NSX Type-R (Wet)

1 min 31.8 secs - Mazda RX-8

1 min 32.8secs - Honda Civic Type R

1 min 37.4 secs - Honda S2000 (Wet)
I know it's not the topic but i looked at the times from top gear's lap, does anyone find this really strange??

That the NSX-R has a lap time barely faster than a mazda rx-8 and that the s2000 is slower than the rx-8 and a civic type r?

I would think the NSX-R would have a bigger gap from the rx-8 and the s2000 should have posted a better lap time although wet.

Let me add to this. HELL NO
It's a top 10 contender, but not tops (read: Top 10-yes, Top5-very freakin' iffy).

There's the single point of getting that thing around the turns. That said, the tires are certainly big enough to see some amazing things for a 2-ton beast.

Turbo Lag is a non-issue, IMHO. It has four of them.

I find it strange that you have no idea how much tires account for traction.

yeah thanks for some input.....

yeah i know about traction.... i remember when they tested the nsx-r and they said on a dry it would do about 4 seconds faster. Even with 4 seconds faster, i think the gap between an nsx-r and a rx-8 would be bigger.

I really wish they would re-run the s2000. Im sure we can all agree that the Civic Type R wouldnt out perform the s2k on a track.

I believe on an episode they said the rule of thumb was to subtract 4 seconds from the wet track time and you roughly have the dry track time.

That puts the NSX-R at 1 min 27.6 secs

and the S2000 at 1 min 33.4 secs

I'm surprised they didnt take the Veyron around the track when they had it for the Veyron vs Plane episode.

Oh, and I believe your list may be incomplete. They had the Stig take an F1 car (Renault, I believe) around and it totally annihilated everything.. But then again, it's not a 'real world' car.
They don't put race cars on the list, they have a seperate list for that. Same with the celebrity in a reasonably priced car, the race car drivers have a seperate list.
