Why does the 330 keep up with us.. is it the gearing.. Dont the Z and the g35 have around 280hp and more torque than the 330..

weight, gearing, better power band, less power drain/loss I'd say

Somehow it seems that BMW has underrated their cars on a consistent basis. The cars with 225 hp were getting 210-215 whp on the dynos. German horses tend to be bigger I guess

In this new engine, BMW also use electrically driven water pump, oil pump, etc. So, there are significantly less power loss. Also double vanos makes the power band quite wide.
