BMW released prices for the 2003 Z4 roadster, which replaces the Z3 roadster.
The Z4 roadster 2.5i will retail for $33,795 and the Z4 roadster 3.0i for $40,945 including destination and handling.
BMW said in a press release that the new roadster will be available in two models: the Z4 roadster 2.5i with the 2.5L, 184-horsepower powerplant, and the Z4 roadster 3.0i with a 3.0L, 225-horsepower engine.
Both versions come standard with Vehicle Speed Sensitive Electric Power Steering, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, electronic brake proportioning, ABS and cornering/avoidance-stability enhancement. Also included are run-flat tires with flat tire monitor on 17-inch alloy wheels on the Z4 3.0i (18 inch with optional sport package) and 16-inch (17-inch with optional sport package) on the Z4 2.5i.
...
How much does the Z4 weigh? 184hp at that price point seems low given the competition...although I haven't been following the car closely so maybe I missed something.

Most people buying a "below 200hp" Z3/Z4 dont care anything about performance, they just wanna have a "BMW convertible". All they need is a kind of luxurious interior and a few BMW badges.
Even for the 2.5L, 184hp engine, 0-30mph is not slow. 30-60mph is a different story, but some people only care about 0-30mph quickness, because they aint gonna go over 30mph in the city anyway........

Yeah, I guess you're right. I don't know why Honda even bothered creating the S2000. Yeah, the S2000 will beat both the Z3/Z4 and the Boxster, will cost much less, AND be orders of magnitude more reliable. Who cares about all that though. I mean as long as I have my little German name tag on the car it has to be the best! Why you ask? Well, just because that's all. Germany rules man, Germany rules.
B. Reliable? My S2k has been in the shop twice for TSB's ... how many of us have had our clutches replaced for free?
-Steve (who would also mention that the M is no longer
-- and that two people he know purchased 01 M roadsters for less than 40G's).
