Some people mentioned being able to get 5.5 0-60's with the old 3 liter...

Seeing as you can now go 255hp, over 20 more then the old one, perhaps it will finally beat the S2000.

if we are just mag racing here., C&D had it @ 5.3 sec...(v. 5.4 for the s2k...)
just saying they seem to go back & forth (again purely 'mag racing' here...) depending on the source/conditions etc.
but as I'm on a Honda board, not a BMW board (hey i like it here, what can i say?) i'll leave it as it is an even race

Customers who pony up the cash want the exlusivity. Going from 3.0i to 3.0si doesn't give them that at all. It makes perfect sense to badge them 2.5 from that perspective, doesn't it?
i think that runs true throughout most of the automotive world, not just bmw/other premium brands
you get a % that genuinly don't care and just want the performance, and a % that like the exclusivity/snob appeal, & a % that like both- i'd say the latter group is the larger proportion...
i wonder if the badging on the Z is a trial run, for that type of badging accross the board

i doubt seeing similar badging on the e90 though atm...will be interesting to see what the e92 comes out as (with the 328/335 ordeal in mind)

BMW need to exorcise the electric power steering rack from the Z4 and make the hydraulic M steering rack standard.

I really like the Z cars, I drove a Z3 3.0 the other day that was really nice. I don't know if I would pick one over an S2K though - but thats just me, I like the looks of the S2K better.

Still 100% fugly. I'd choose a Boxster before any of the Z roadsters. They are the worst of the "flame surfaced" BMWs IMO.

yaa. that's the thing i dislike most of the z4. the electric power steering makes the steering in that car feel so numb and disconnected.

The weird thing is the Mini has electric power steering too, but no one would ever complain about the steering feel in that car. BMW should have never let the Z4 out the door with such sh-t steering feel. Here's hoping that the hydraulic M rack can be retrofitted into the non-M Z4.
