Racing Honda Turbo V8
I dropped by my local Honda dealer for an oil filter today and noticed something interesting. My dealership is owned by Parker Johnstone, an ex-Honda race driver. He has had his Indy car and his early race Civic in the showroom, which is cool. Today, I noticed that he has a Honda V8 Turbo engine (assuming from an Indy car) on an engine stand.
I’d seen it before but for some reason today, I noticed how tiny the flywheel was, probably because I need a clutch. I don’t have huge hands, but they seem that way when I took a couple pics next to it to try and show scale. Literally, this flywheel was probably less than 5” across! Anyway, thought you might enjoy the pics. BTW, this thing is so small, it’d be EASY to fit one into an S2k!

It would have been so killer to have a Honda small block V8 into a RWD or AWD performance car for the masses. What do we get? 4 bangers for decades. Same on the motorcycle side. We asked for a V4 literbike for decades, and nothing. You can get a crap inline 4 though!

That is a great dealer to go to! I hope you got some good pics of their race cars in the showroom as well. Regarding fitting that motor in an S2k... one would have to cut a hole in the hood for that massive intake thing.. which would be AWESOME! I wonder if Parker is willing to donate to a good cause lol.

He ought to toss that motor on BaT.
What do you have against Honda's inline-4 Tommy? I'd prefer a V4 as well, but crap is a bit harsh! I wish any of the manufacturer's would bring a real deal inline-4 400cc sportbike to our market.

That is Honda marketing eye candy. I've seen those many times over the years. Honda must supply them to dealers for their showrooms. Probably not a fully functioning engine internally, it looks cool either way.
