S800 in the hall of fame!
I paid a visit to the Henry Ford Museum yesterday. It's always a neat place to re-visit and it had been a number of years since I was there. If you are in the Detroit area for the car show and can spend another day in town... do go there. Everything from the chair Lincoln was shoot in, Kenndy's car, etc. Lots of neat cars, planes, trains, and the whole history of inventions for just about everything you can think of. I discovered I've owned a couple milestone cars - they had a '65 Toyota Corona (mine was a '72). The Corona was reportedly the first Japanese car designed with the American market in mind. They also had a '83 Honda Accord (me too). Their's was no. 1 off the line and it was there because it was the first Japanese car produced in the USA.
So as we three were leaving the factility we noticed a new building (to us anyway) called the Automotive Hall of Fame. So we drove over to check it out. It was conceived around the idea of expaining the famous people who had great influence on automobiles over the years. They only had five cars on display... and one was a Honda S800! I thought that pretty cool! No doubt they rotate cars in and out. It's nice that the Museum does not favor any one manufacturer. In fact, my two buddies are Ford guys (in addition to MGs) and they were mad there wasn't even a single Mustang anywhere.
