How about a 106? Won't rust like the Ka, looks better and drives better.

Isn't it a substantial share too? something like 51%.

In all honesty this does knock me off Nissans a 'little' bit TBH.
I'm not making it up:

It's depressing how Nissan has slipped down the JD Power, etc. ratings since.

Blame Carlos the Jackal.

If you can find one that isn't a wreck, the 106 is very pleasant to drive; one of the last old-school Peugeots.

It's not toooo bad on the insurance, but you ought to find a very tidy ex-granny 1.4 Civic EK1 for two large.

KA all the way

My Mrs has one with 75k on the clock.

Its great fun to drive and has been totally reliable. She hasnt serviced hers properly in years - I do the oil and fluids etc etc. It breezes the MOT but occassionally needs a bit of welding round the bottom of the sills - a well known issue. She had a new clutch at 70k and a new exhaust around the same time but thats been about it.

Cant emphasise enough how much fun they are - I love it!

Ford KA - cheapest thing on the road to run, Group 2 insurance, if you boot it it does 320 miles on a tank, if you drive it nicely it does 380 miles on a tank. Anything goes wrong every garage / mechanic in the world can work on it, and all motor factors supply parts for it. The engine technology is donkey's years old (Duratec engines) and simple as. Has a timing chain NOT a belt - cheaper servicing, you can get it into the tinest of spaces, plastic bumpers so WGAF if you scratch it.
Had one as a dog car bought it 12 months old ex-demo, and only got rid of it as needed 5 doors, let all and sundry drive it, did 120k plus in 5 years, mostly on motorway too. Got back the cash I parted with (part-exed the former dog car also for it) so none to shabby. Had heard about rust, but it a Ford, bound to rust. Mine hadn't after 6 years age.
Get the Collection or higher spec, just a few bits to make life nicer, e.g. elec windows, and air con!

Bought my wife a Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP. It's a cracking 3 cylinder engine. Nippy and easy to drive.
