Maybe holding back 1 months premium would be fair, but tough

There's usually a policy when you take out the initial insurance policy - you don't automatically get 3 months back just cos you have 3 months remaining.... I think that's pretty standard between insurers. I've never insured with Flux but I've been told that by other insurers.

2k over several years isn't that much

can you try putting whatever car you are changing to on that policy instead at least till it runs out?

Good idea. I am not 'replacing' it for a while but.

I will try that on them.

edit: no need - my luck is in!
In response to your comments we would advise that in the normal course of events the vast majority of insurers would cancel in accordance with their standard short period rates (as would have been laid out in our terms of trading letter enclosed at inception of the policy and with all renewal invitations thereafter) upon which basis,if cover has been running for 9 months or more, there would be no refund allowable.

The matter has, however, been referred to a supervisor who has confirmed that on the particular scheme with N.I.G ( with whom you are currently insured) they would allow a pro-rata refund, dependent upon the amount of mileage that has been done since last renewal date, bearing in mind that existing policy is on a 3000 annual mileage limit.
When returning the certificate of insurance for cancellation we would ask that you please also confirm the current mileage of the vehicle so that we may finalise on your behalf with N.I.G.
Guess I'd better change the thread title now...
Too late for the last post now but I will potter over to East Winch tomorrow morning
