I was driving around in them in the stuff that brought the south to a standstill at beginning of Feb. Ask the Focus driver who span and I came nose to nose with how tail happy the S is in poor tyres when I pulled an emergency stop on the M40 in slush (although we were talking brown trouser moment at the time)

Honestly speaking, first minute or two on wet roads when cold I can feel the back moving slightly more than the I could on Bridgestones but the grip is fantastic in the dry.

I used to run a 1L E-reg VW polo on unbranded tyres and I'm still alive. The thing is with unbranded tyres they're normally just the molds from a branded tyre sold off once they're no longer state of the art.

In summary on a performance car like the S I'm not going to skimp on tyres since I'll be kicking the ar$e out of it and likely to be trying to push that grip to the limit. On a beater I'm going to go with a anything decent. 'm still going to able to out brake and turn that 3 tone VW Toe-rag that some school run mum has bought

I think the Subaru boys first cottoned onto them. I remember going to a garage for a set and some tit trying to lecture me about putting "budget" tyres on a 320 bhp car...

Not sure about other models of Toyo though.

I more pity the dweeb who can only stretch to a poverty-spec 316 but orders the same wheels, in order to big himself up and then wonders why the car is even slower and more uncomfortable and very boriing than the test car was on its steel rims and appropriate tyres!
