ok, now the sun is here I thought I'd swap the winter tyres off the DD and put the flashy wheels and summer rubber on. My god, I'd forgotten how much heavier the summmer wheels and tyres are (20/45/17 than the winters (195/55/16) - must be at least 2kg heavier.

Didn't quite beat a McClaren pit stop - still, 40 mins later was all done

Then I noticed I'd put all the summer ones on the wrong way round - I'd forgotten they are sided and only rotate one way. Only took me 25 mins to swap them all round.

Wow, a '20' width tyre! where did you get them from? A bicycle? Sorry I couldn't resist!

Absolutely - that's why "big weelz" is so retarded.

Width is fine, as the say...

I did this in 28 minutes 08s.

You are off the pace

I cannot abide the winters at remotely not freezing, it's like driving on Swiss rolls

It's like you have suddenly gained the ability to drift at will and without effort. I do still prefer the ride of the 16s though.

I just changed my 3 series BM from it's 16" winters to it's 17" summers. That car drives so much better on 16s. Better ride, less tramlining and you can feel the extra weight of those 17s when you're driving.

Yep this ^^ I have to pay attention on the 17s. On the 16s the car is better behaved and far less nervous - the decrease in grip / handling ability is not something i really notice or care about.

*ponders*

Might be time to sell the 17s and look for some nice lightweight Pro Race 1.2 16s from Team Dynamics

What tyres are on an m3 nott? Mine have 255/35 on all round. Which I don't fancy buying. Might flog the whole thing before the rubber burns off

fronts are 245x35, rears 265x35. on 19s. It's about £1.1k to boot her up and the rears last about 10 minutes give or take

yours will probably wear more even being 4wd, the BM has traction issues for 6 months of the year i find. but hopefully my clutch will last longer
