I am very though, because I would adore a Le Mans Blue E39 with the Silverstone Point Nappa leather!
et voila.

You can get some M5's with drop down rear seats you know...

I am surprised nobody else has said that .

Matt , if she is making decisions like this now , it wont get better

You would be better off with a Mercedes Sprinter for when she gets the next pair of dogs .

As for the MCoupe , great car but you will get sod all other than a poodle in it

Ha ha ha! I shall tell her that! To be fair, it was a joint decision to get this dog, he is wonderful. So I've only got myself to blame!

An M5 with folding rears would be my choice. That, or another girlfriend...

*sarah walks in and gives Matt a for his troubles*

It's looking like a Five Touring or the X5 at the moment...

Yes, my car career will be down the pan!

Actually, Sarah is great because she loves cars, and she refuses to have an MPV because - quite rightly - she says they are cars for "people who have given up on life"!

in case I've offended anyone...

Moggy, your M5 is As is Gad's Carbon Black. Dammit, I've just got to persuade her that the M5 is the one for us...

Tying in this thread with the recent announcement on the E46 M3, here are some pics. These were taken on the foggiest, dirtiest day possible (today!) with our happy snap camera; my shiny new work digi camera has gone to Bristol's Royal Mail depot, because the postman didn't bother to knock when he delivered it yesterday

So apologies for the quality of these pics! I'll do some better ones very soon. This, then, is the new beater... The g/f's new car...:

Steel Grey, it is a beauty, she's so happy, and I'm really pleased for her. Looks like she's got a good'un...

Now, about that Alpina B10 V8S Touring...

What is behind the seats in the Z4M coupe when you lift the hatch? Is it a large boot space open through to the cockpit that a dog could sit in / good size suitcase or is it limited space?

It's limited space in the Z4M Coupe, because the back slopes down so much. The boot floor is not flat either, having loads of cubby holes in it (a bit like the S2000's boot), but it is supposed to take two small/one large suitcase; BMW intended it to be a mini-GT, the kind of car you could drive to the South of France in.

I thought the Z3M Coupe did have a flat boot, and it has a high roofline right back to the rear. It's been ages since I've been in one though, so my failing memory has let me down!

I just feel the X5 has done all its depreciating and even the arrival of the new one won't harm it too much... although I could be VERY wrong!
Hmmm..... you sure?

The X5 has always been a huge fashion statement car for a large number of people, which in turn has (IMO) kept the prices up. Now the new model is on the way, the people who need to be seen in the latest fashion 4x4 will be dumping theirs on the market in drives I reckon.

Always the case with fashion accessory cars in my experience.

Go with the 540 - in touring it was never a lifestyle accessory.

(of course, I could be VERY wrong too.... )
