Any Integra DC5 owners around...?
Hi chaps
I know there's a couple of Teg owners lurking here.
God knows how because i've not heard it scrape on anything but i've scraped the bottom of the front bumper on the old man's DC5. There's a nasty 3-4 inch scratch on the bottom of the bumper - just high enough to really show.
It's a two part bumper so i'm assuming that if the worst comes to the worst the bottom lip of it can be removed and resprayed but it's pulled away slightly at the top of the bumper too (away from the nearside point where it connects to the car). I've pushed it back in with his nibs in attendance but it's still sitting out ever so slightly.
So, first question - can a scratch of this size be painted back in without a respray?
Second question, anyone know how the Teg bumper fits and where i'd get replacement fittings to make sure it sits flush again?

Its a lip which comes off so you could easily get that resprayed. Can't remember but I think its screwed on underneath and at the sides by the wheel arches.
Or you could buy some touch up stuff if you are allowed to
Honda can get replacement parts if its beyond repair though. Even though its JDM.
Or get one from a breaker and paint it.
Choices choices.

I was thinking i'd get in touch with one of those companies that claim to be able to paint in scratches. Anyone have any experience - i'd hate for it to show that it's been dinked.
It's not dented and it's just the bottom lip as you say.
He's being really good about it though - i'm still feeling very bad about it - it's his baby after all...
Thanks

To remove the bumper you'll need to undo the plastic clips that holda it in place. There are half a dozen connecting the plastic undertray to the bumper. Then there are some in the wheel arches, again holding the plastic in place. The last few are under the bonnet near the grill.
You could always make it up to him by getting him an Injen CAI, then you can follow the instructions on that to take the bumper off

The Honda clips are a godsend, well, Soichirosend, I suppose.
You prise up the centre part & pull out the whole clip.
There are usually a couple of philips screws near the wheelarch for added security.
Those bumper scrapes are inevitable, with nanny state putting titties in the road.
I did a similar repair on the Civic with touch-up & an aerosol of clear-coat. Six years on, the clearcoat is badly chipped, though.
I would recommend that you get it done by a local backyard sprayer with a good reputation. They're invaluable.

Well i'm chuffed to bits - just spoke to a company called Clean Image - they're going to remove the bottom part of the bumper and spray it in. The guy was a serious Honda fan and waxed lyrical about getting the white absolutely right and not too bright!
He's also able to get hold of the clips I need so hopefully in a few days the car will be back to it's best.
I'll feel so much better returning his baby to him in good nick again!
