If so, what?

How easy was it?

Etc.

I fancy doing this one day.

Doh - quite easy with the right tools, time and a wee bit of know how..... oh and a mate that has all this + funding

Both are ours

Never rely on instructions, always use the internet community as with the S2K a lot of friendly helpful people out there. They even pop over and help you through those difficult bits.

What you thinking of ? The Westy "7" was far easier and in my opinion more fun

John - I like that Westy thing, but I have zero interest in tracks

I'm fairly open-minded about what I'd build

I like beach buggies and race replicas

Quite a spectrum

I'm not keen on replicas tbh

So things like the Cobra, Stratos, Chesil, etc are out

No snobbery involved, just personal preference

In fact, as evidence of that, I would happily try something like a beach buggy

funnily enough Im looking into this at the moment Gad.

My dad has retired and we've both come into some money recently through a relative - thinking of pooling some funds and building up a something or other - caterfield esc or though Im not sure what. Oddly enough I dont actually care that much for the car - my interest is in gaining the knowledge of how to build a car, how cars work etc etc - Im just looking to gain that experience. He only retired on Friday though so we are early days.

From what Mark has said (and I've heard elsewhere) the type of kit you buy makes a huge difference to what the build is like.

For example:
Westy - lots of parts, a fairly big book of instructions and just a few changes required to make minor things like bodywork fit.

Fury - lots of parts, lots of custom fabrication, real DIY, need a mechanic to help you..

I'm sure there are plenty of other variants it the mix.

I'd love a Fury, but unless it was a BEC it looks like I wouldn't fit my legs in. It's ok for a short arse like Benson, I guess you'd be ok too

why don't we get a date in the diary for a beer?

talk cars and stuff and I'll show you show of the some I've looked at

we could invite MarkB because he has a half built kit car

and MB because he has a turnkey kit car

you free in the next week or so?
